Leeds City Council is to consider today the introduction of a code of practice on using the internet following the resignation of two councillors who allegedly accessed pornography last month, reports the Yorkshire Post (p6).

The personnel panel committee will consider a report that recommends incorporating the code in the council's disciplinary rules.

The report states: 'The growing use of the internet presents opportunities where this facility could be wilfully misused to the detriment of the council.'

The proposed code has seven clauses under the heading 'You must not'. One reads: 'You must not view or download pornographic, indecent, subversive or abusive images, text or sound files.'
