The six Glasgow members under investigation by the Labour Party's national executive in the wake of the 'trips for votes' allegations have threatened legal action if they do not get a fair hearing.

The councillors, who have not been named, say they are angry at being associated with the investigation before having the chance to defend themselves in court.

They are said to be considering High Court action to ensure they are not victimised as a result of the investigation.

Last week 77 Glasgow Labour group members wrote to Labour Party general secretary Tom Sawyer expressing concern that the inquiry could be prejudiced before it had begun - it has been temporarily suspended until after 1 May because of the general election.
