Housing Benefit (General) Amendment (No 2) Regulations. SI 1974. ...
Housing Benefit (General) Amendment (No 2) Regulations. SI 1974.

Effective from 18 August 1997 to 31 October 1998, when they will automatically cease to have effect.

Further amend the principal 1987 regulations to make service charges for general counselling and support eligible for housing benefit where the claimant occupies supported accommodation. Accommodation is 'supported' if it is either:

-- A resettlement place' funded by a government grant under s30 Jobseekers Act 1995

-- Accommodation provided by a local authority, or other social landlord, where care, support or supervision is provided by or on behalf of that body.

Housing Benefit (General) Amendment (No 3) Regulations. SI 1975.

Effective 5 October. Amend Regulations SI 1997/582 to omit amendments to Reg 11 of the principal 1987 regulations which would have had the effect from 6 October 1997 of further restricting the maximum rent on which housing benefit may be paid in the case of single claimants aged 25 but under 60.

Sex Offenders Act 1997 (Commencement) Order. SI 1920.

Brings the Act into force on 1 September.

Sex Offenders (Certificate of Caution) Order. SI 1921.

Effective 1 September. Prescribes the form to be used by a constable to certify that a person has been cautioned for an offence to which Pt I of the 1997 Act applies and that the person has been so informed.

Police Act 1997 (Commencement No 3 and Transitional Provisions) Order. SI 1930.

Brings into force various provisions relating to the National Criminal Intelligence Service, the National Crime Squad and the Police Information Technology Organisation on 1 September and 8 October. It also amends various provisions relating to NCIS, NCS and PITO and brings into force s91 (1) to (9) and s96, which relate to intrusive surveillance.

Police (Property) Regulations. SI 1908.

Effective 1 September.

Knives Act 1997 (Commencement) (No 1) Order. SI 1906.

Brings into force ss1 to 7, 9 and 10 of the Act on 1 September.

Knives (Forfeited Property) Regulations. SI 1907. Effective 1 September. Provide for the disposal of knives subject to a forfeiture order under s6 Knives Act 1997 by the relevant police authority.

Allocation of Housing (Reasonable and Additional Preference) Regulations. SI 1902.

Effective 1 November. Widen the categories of persons to whom additional preference is to be given when allocating housing accommodation.

Housing (Prescribed Forms) (Amendment) (No 2) Regulations. SI 1903.

Effective 28 August. Amend the forms prescribed by the principal 1990 regulations following the coming into force of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (deferred action notices). A deferred action notice is to be served by a housing authority if it is satisfied a dwellinghouse or a house in multiple occupation is unfit for human habitation and that such a notice is the most satisfactory action.

Registration of Deaths, Marriages and Divorces (Fees) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations. SI 1680.

Effective 1 August.

Registration of Births, Still-births and Deaths (Prescription of Errors) (Scotland) Regulations. SI 1782.

Effective 1 September.
