Parents and children blocked a road in Leicester today after a child was hit by a car outside Mellor Primary School. Campaigning for a crossing, they complained the road was not safe to cross, reported BBC Leicester.

The county council said it recognises the problem, but with 35 pedestrian crossings still to be built and no funds available there was little it could do.
