LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - BIG JUMP IN RECYCLING

Big jump in recycling ...
Big jump in recycling

The Municipal Waste Management Survey reports that, for the first time, the amount of household waste sent to landfill has fallen (LGC, 14 May).

The survey also shows a 2% rise in the rate of household waste recycling to 14.5% - the largest annual increase in the recycling rate ever.

These two very positive figures demonstrate that the hard work done by councils in recent years - alongside the extra resources from government - are beginning to pay dividends.
