'Getting to Grips with Crime: A New Framework for Local Action'

Police Authority Chairmen will already have received from the Home Office, a copy of the government's Consultation Document on Community Safety duty. Police authorities have two major inputs to the finalisation of this proposed legislation. First is in relation to their own role in the leadership group- or their designation on the list of agencies and services statutory required to be consulted. The Penninington Report Recommendations: Additional Funding

Member authorities attention is drawn to the Government's recent announcement of additional funding for the implementation of certain of the recommendations contained in the Pennington report. These are:

-- to increase the level of food safety enforcement in high risk premises

-- to accelerate the implementation of food safety control systems based on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points
