Representatives from England's four local authority treasurers' societies have been named as core advisers to the Local Government Association's resources panel.

They are Wigan MBC's Philip Grayling, from the Society of Metropolitan Treasurers, Suffolk CC's Philip Atkinson, representing the Society of County Treasurers, Westminster City Council's Bill Roots, for the Society of London Treasurers, and Huntingdonshire DC's Ian Brooke, representing the Society of District Council Treasurers.

LGA finance director Neil Kinghan confirmed the appointments at the first national conference of the Association of Local Authority Treasurers, which brings together the four societies under an umbrella organisation.
