Today Local Government Chronicle and its parent company Emap PSM is launching a new magazine, White Paper, aimed at senior managers across the entire spectrum of the public sector.

'From town halls to Whitehall, health authorities to next steps agencies, this magazine will be the best source of news, analysis, features, profiles, opinion and recruitment and display advertising,' said editor Richard Vize, who also edits LGC.

'It will be the first magazine to reflect the changing face of the public sector, encouraging career moves across the old boundaries, and breaking down the mistrust and misunderstanding that has hindered the development of an effective public sector for decades.'

White Paper will be the route map for managers trying to navigate the increasingly challenging and competitive world of public sector management.

The first of three pilot editions is published today, followed by two more on 5 April and 10 May. White Paper will then launch as a fortnightly, subscription-based magazine on 7 June.

Features in the first edition include Richard Vize's in-depth interview with Wendy Thomson, Tony Blair's adviser on civil service and local government reform; David Walker on the challenges facing the new cabinet secretary; Colin Talbot analysing the cracks in the comprehensive spending review; Peter Davies discussing why local government and health loathe each other; David Curry on how the foot-and-mouth crisis exposed the cracks in joined-up government; and Steve John on how public servants should use lobbyists.
