Sir John Bourn has been reappointed as auditor general of Wales until March 2005. He is also comptroller and auditor general to the UK Parliament.

A new body, the Wales Audit Office, is due to be established next year and a full-time auditor general will be sought to lead it.

The Welsh Assembly public services committee is to hold an inquiry into the operation of the country's public services regulation and inspection regime. It will look at the roles and accountability of the various inspectorates, and whether they add value to public service improvement.

There is a vacancy for a local government representative on the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information, the Cabinet Office has announced. The panel advises on the sharing and reuse of information gathered by public bodies. The deadline for applications is 30 June.
