Institute for Public Policy Research director Matthew Taylor joins LGC as a regular weekly columnist today as part of a series of changes to the magazine.

We are adding more features, and the law, finance, education and social services columns, which will each be carried fortnightly, are longer and even more informative.

View from the Top is our new slot for chief executives to air their opinions, joys and frustrations. Regular Keith Yates will be joined by numerous colleagues, beginning this week with David Panter of Brighton & Hove City Council. It is on page 21, alongside our quartet of local government, political and media observers David Curry MP, Carol Grant, Dennis Reed and David Clark.

E-gov will share the page with leading market research company MORI. An Inspector Calls will continue to reveal who is flying high and who has crashed in the latest inspection reports.

n LGC's paid circulation rose 3.7% last year to 8,364, the Audit Bureau of Circulation has announced. This extends LGC's lead over its nearest rival.
