The Liberal Democrats are celebrating today after their candidate for Eel Brook ward in Hammersmith and Fulham LBC successfully drew lots for election in the High Court.

Labour took the two seat ward on election night in May, but the difference between its second highest polling candidate and Liberal Democrat, Simon Thomson, was just one vote.

That margin was reduced to nothing when Mr Thomson successfully challenged the result in the High Court.

The court decided to resolve the impasse by ordering lots - with Simon Thomson being the lucky winner.

The result gives the Liberal Democrats two seats on the council, but Labour keeps overall control.
