One of Scotland's most successful recycling projects, run by Edinburgh city council, has had to be scrapped because of cutbacks, the Glasgow Herald reports (p7).

Last year the council recycled around 20,000 Christmas trees, using the remains on council flower beds and shrubberies. The authority is now cancelling the three-year-old project, to save£48,000.
