Liverpool hosts reconciliation

  • Comment
Liverpool City Council’s Labour opposition leader Joe Anderson and chief executive Colin Hilton have been ordered to meet following a breakdown in their relationship.

The council’s appointment and disciplinary panel has made it clear to the two men that they must try to resolve complaints Cllr Anderson has levelled against Mr Hilton.

Cllr Anderson’s allegations centre around the removal of former chief executive of Liverpool’s Culture Company Jason Harborow after an outdoor music festival was cancelled (LGC, 7 February).

Cllr Anderson made complaints against Mr Hilton and council leader Warren Bradley (Lib Dem) over the departure.

Meanwhile, the panel approved a reshuffle of executive director positions. Liverpool has four executive directors with individual responsibility for regeneration, finance and legal services, children’s services and community services.

Under the plan, their numbers will be cut to three and they will no longer be responsibility for a particular service areas, which will fall to the assistant executive directors.
