Facilities management companies Building & Property Group and Unicorn have won a£200m, seven-year contract to maintain and repair 40,000 Liverpool City Council homes.

The 600 workers who will transfer under the deal will have their pensions protected because the consortium has admitted body status, giving its workers access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The package, an amalgamation of two inner and outer city housing areas, is the first of its kind offered by Liverpool.

Building & Property Group chief executive Clive Groom said the deal was particularly significant because of the group's admitted body status.
