The Local Government pay Commission (LGPC) was established as part of the settlement of last year's industrial dispute in local government.

Its terms of reference include looking at pay comparability issues, low pay, issues of pay discrimination, the impact of recruitment and retention problems on pay, employment flexibility and the future of the National Joint Council agreement.

The commission is an independent body and invites all interested parties to submit evidence to it by 30 April 2003. Evidence must relate to the issues set out in the commission's terms of reference and can be forwarded in hard copy form or electronically.

The terms of reference can be found on the commission's website.
