Local politicians will be accused of being alienated by the community in a report out tomorrow into two nights of rioting in Bradford in June, reports the Yorkshire Post (p1).

'As trouble developed, local politicians were caught off guard and were unable to respond to community frustration,' said the Foundation 2000 organisation.

Deprivation in the area, poorly targeted spending by council and government are cited as among the causes of the riots.

The police are accused of Rambo-style action, the paper reports, and wee at fault through their 'cultural insensitivity and their heavy-handed response to the minor initial incident'.
