A lollipop man who was wrongly accused of child abuse has returned to work at East Lothian Council after a month on leave suffering from stress.

School crossing patrol worker Robert Lothian hit the headlines when he was interviewed by council officers after a pupil complained he had touched her neck.

He said it was a friendly gesture, and the inquiry found within days that no disciplinary action was necessary.

A council spokesman said it had acted 'properly and within national child protection guidelines'.
