The Guardian (p5) reports that a shortage of 10,000 bed spaces in London is forcing tourists to stay in towns in the south of England and commute to the capital.

According to the Birkbeck college report, paid for by the London Tourist Board, tourists are increasingly having to stay in resorts like Brighton and take coaches or trains to see the capital.
