The Central London Partnership has criticised the government's consultation on the future of the local government funding formula.

A statement from the partnership said: 'London will be severely disadvantaged under the changes. The area is now facing a potential combined total reduction in core funding of almost£230m.'

The partnership said the capital subsidises the rest of the UK at a cost of around£20bn each year.

A spokesman for the ODPM said responses to the proposed funding

formula are being considered carefully.
