An Evening Standard poll (p2) has revealed that 56% of Londoners consider the abolition of the GLC was a mistake with 21% wanting a separate body to replace it.

According to the survey, only 21% have heard of London Forum, the privately backed organisation to promote London overseas.

Liberal Democrats emerge as political favourites: support in the capital has risen from 16% to 23% while the Tories have slumped from 42% at the time of the general election to 27%.
