Tower Hamlets, Islington, Hackney and Southwark LBCs have the highest proportion of dissatisfied residents in England, according to research published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
The districts with the lowest levels of dissatisfaction are East Dorset DC, Wokingham DC, Surrey Heath BC, Christchurch BC, Wealden DC and Castle Point BC.
The major sources of dissatisfaction were crime (22%), dogs (16%), leisure facilities (15%), vandalism (14%) and litter (13%). But the research revealed most people find their neighbourhoods friendly and, even on the most unpopular London estates, only around one in four is highly dissatisfied.
