The Labour party today released figures which show that more people in London are waiting for appeals against council-tax valuations than in any other part of the country, the Evening Standard reports (p2).

Shadow local government minister Doug Henderson gave the figure as 105,000 out of 139,000 who have appealed.

The paper reports that Mr Henderson is calling on the government to force the Valuation Office to clear the 'massive backlog'.
