The Prime Minister, John Major, has attacked Birmingham's Labour leaders as running 'a very bad council' on the day he visits the city to boost his party's election campaign, the Birmingham Post reports (p1).

The attack aimed at leader, Theresa Stewart, focused on financial mismanagement of the administration.

Theresa Stewart said the government was trying to brand them a 'loony left' council even though there were no supporting facts.
