Manchester City Council has entered a£350m joint venture with Morrison Facilities Services to carry out council housing repairs and win building work elsewhere. The 10-year deal sees the council using its trading powers to take a 20% shareholding in the venture, known as Manchester Working.

Its first contract is to bring 13,000 homes managed by the council's arm's-length management organisation up to the decent homes standard.
