Manchester's housing and environmental services committee has approved the introduction of an accreditation scheme for private landlords, and has endorsed a good practice guide for them to follow.

The good practice will set out legal requirements and minimum standards and good practice in management in the private rented sector.

Under the accreditation scheme, landlords who demonstrate that their property and their management of it complies with the good practice can be accredited and they will be able to display the accreditation logo.

An annual fee of£54 per property will be charged to landlords for accreditation. Regular checks will be carried out to make sure accreditation is deserved.
