People in Manchester have had the most county court judgments registered against them in England and Wales over the past six years, reports The Times (p44).

Experian, Europe's largest credit reference agency, claims 15% of Mancunians have at least one CCJ against them, which is double the national average.

Bruno Rost, Experian spokeman, said: 'It's a reflection of the insolvency of individulas in the Manchester area...areas where a high number are registered are indicative of financial hardship.'

Other bad areas include Hull, Southampton, Corby, Liverpool, Nottingham and Southwark and Lambeth LBCs.

The best record was awarded to Tynedale in Northumberland and Broadland in Norfolk.
