Hammersmith & Fulham LBC has been awarded£10m for two nursing homes under the private finance initiative. In the first deal of its kind, the Department of Health and DETR jointly agreed the funding.
The nursing homes will cater for 140 elderly people and the funding will support the building of another care sheltered scheme being built.
Social inclusion deputy councillor Tim Stanley (Lab) said: 'It's great news we are the first council to meet the criteria for joint funding.'
