The Corporation of London has chosen a firm set up by Accenture to manage its non-permanent staff.

Accenture - formerly known as Andersen Consulting - has set up a corporate services company called Comensura. The company will be running the councils' temporary staffing.

Purchasing liaison officer Gary Dowding said: 'We have not been wholly satisfied with the way we recruit our temporary people.

'While our many staffing agencies provide top-quality people, the sheer complexity of the supply chain poses real challenges in understanding our total spend and the risks we may be assuming.'

The deal marks the first time the company has worked in the UK and chief executive Greg Johnson said it hopes to expand further in the UK public sector market.
