Infrastructure investment group Innisfree is being touted as a possible bidder for Amey's portfolio of equity stakes in private finance initiative projects.
Although no discussions are believed to have taken place, a source at Innisfree confirmed the company is interested in extending its stake in PFI.
Amey recently announced it intends to pull out of selected PFI initiatives because the process is taking too long (LGC, 13 September).
A statement accompanying the firm's interim results in the six months up to July said: 'The group . . . has made clear to the government that the PFI procurement process is often too costly and too slow.'
