Four London boroughs have signed a 25-year deal with Shanks Waste Services.

Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham and Redbridge LBCs have signed the 25-year contract with the firm which is promising to invest£100m and create 100 jobs.

Graham Farrant, clerk of East London Waste Authority, said: 'The level of recycling will be dramatically increased to 33% by the end of 2006, a figure which is well ahead of the recycling targets set by the government.'
