West Chevington parish council, one of the smallest parishes in England with just 35 electors, plans to merge with neighbouring Tritlington in a bid to survive, reported The Journal (Feb 11, p17).

The council is having difficulty in continuing to function because local enthusiasm for participation is rather limited, stated a report to Castle Morpeth BC.
