1,400 full survey inspections will be used to inform urban regeneration programme

Middlesbrough BC has awarded a£93,525 contract to carry out 1,400 full survey inspections to pps Consulting.

Along with an additional 7,000 external surveys, the programme will centre on six 'focus areas' that are defined within the council's 'visioning' exercise as part of the city's ongoing urban regeneration.

Findings from this survey will also inform the council's overall private sector housing strategy. The survey marks a continuation of the successful collaboration between pps Consulting and Building Research Establishment in the use of BRE's Housing Stock Modeling Service. Already successfully implemented in Huntingdonshire and the City of Lincoln, the service provides powerful data and mapping to assist the delivery of effective survey information.

pps Consulting research manager Ed Diment said: 'This project represents a major component of Middlesbrough's on-going urban renaissance. The findings of the survey will enable the council to continue its good work in regeneration, not only in housing but in all aspects of the urban landscape'.
