Middlesbrough BC has seized the home of a convicted drug dealer in a crackdown on problem tenants, reports The Journal (p3).

The council was granted possession of the home by adeputy district judge. The tenant is serving five years in prison for drug dealing but her daughter will have to move out.

Middlesbrough housing committee chairman Michael Carr told the Journal: 'This is the first time we have sought the possession of one of our properties after someone has been criminally convicted.'
