The chance of a Midland 'mega-TEC' becoming a reality have increased as three organisations have confirmed they are in merger talks, reports The Birmingham Post (p12).

Dudley and Sandwell training and enterprise councils have admitted that they are in discussion with Wolverhampton Chamber of Commerce Training and Enterprise about 'further collaboration.'

In a joint statement the three organisations said: 'The objective is to explore how, by building on existing strengths, the organisations can work together to create a more powerful business and skills development force within their areas.'

It is thought that the three-way merger talks could create a wave of similar rationalisations around the region.
