Bedford BC, Hackney LBC and Stoke on Trent City Council are gearing up for the mayoral elections on 17 October.

Eight candidates are standing in Hackney. They include council leader Jules Pipe (Lab), Andrew Boff (Con) and Ian Sharer (Lib Dem).

In Stoke on Trent, at least 10 candidates are expected to enter the mayoral race. It is expected that Stoke South's Labour MP George Stevenson (Lab) will stand as well as Mike Wolfe, leader of the 'Mayor 4 Stoke' campaign.

Roger Ibbs (Con), deputy leader of the council, millionaire retired stockbroker Geoffrey Snow and Steve Batkin (BNP) are all expected to stand.

At least eight candidates are expected to stand in Bedford.
