Walsall MBC is contesting the claims of a couple who have gentrified their mobile home out of all recognition, that they do not need planning permission.

The Guardian (p10) reports that a couple who bought a plot of land in 1985 with permision to live on it in a mobile home have since spent all their free time and a lot of money in improving it until it has become what the council describes as a bungalow.

The council wants the couple to remove the improvements, as they do not have planning permission for a bungalow.

'The whole thing is an eyesore and a blot on the landscape. The law is the law and we will pursue them until they comply,' said the council's Tory group leader Mike Bird.
