School standards minister Estelle Morris has told the Financial Times there will be more private sector involvement in education.

She said models will include 'commissions' set up with the private sector to oversee local education authority reforms.

More flexible partnership arrangements were needed and businesses could also get involved with successful councils, she said.

Ms Morris said: 'I don't see private sector intervention as a model set by failure.'
