John Major and Tony Blair have backed the launch of a campaign by the widow of murdered headteacher Philip Lawrence, reports The Times (p1).

Frances Lawrence wants a national movement to tackle violence and promote good citizenship.

Mr Blair said that Labour would make lessons on good citizenship part of the national curriculum - one of Mrs Lawrence's key demands.
