Thousands of North Yorkshire CC staff have signed agreements to continue to work for the council after April with no assurance that their conditions and duties will be protected.

People whose jobs remain largely unchanged were asked to sign a form, sent by the county, saying they agreed to remain in post.

According to Unison branch secretary Robert O'Brien, the form did not state that all the same terms and conditions would apply, and staff are worried their sick leave and car allowances could be changed.

Mr O'Brien said staff were hurried into signing the forms.

Chief executive John Ransford said the staff have yet to receive details of their conditions, but added: 'All the statement of particulars will do is confirm the conditions.'
