Members of the Yorkshire Dales national park authority have agreed to support a decision by South Lakeland DC refusing planning permission for electricity-generating wind turbines, reported The Northern Echo (9 Dec, p14).

The park authority will also help defend any subsequent appeals against the authority. The park authority's chief executive, Heather Hancock, said: 'We need to take a stand - residents and visitors do not want views from the Dales spoiled by the visual pollution of wind turbines.'
