Two senior officers from New Forest DC will leave the authority as part of a cost-cutting exercise, reported the Bournemouth Daily Echo (26 Feb, p4).

Terry Simpson, 53, head of central administration, and chief solicitor Chris Gilmour, 49, between them with 27 years' service, are being made redundant, in September and December respectively.

The Tory-controlled council is streamlining its senior managers as part of an£800,000 financial saving exercise.

The current post of principal solicitor will be redesignated with Grania O'Rourke becoming head of legal and democratic services.
