The London Assembly Conservatives have chosen their group leadership team for the first year of the new assembly. The positions are:

Leader - Bob Neill, assembly member for Bexley and Bromley

Deputy leader - Angie Bray, assembly member for West Central (which comprises the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster)

Group whip - Bob Blackman (assembly member for Brent and Harrow)

Group spokesmanships will be announced at a later date.

Bob Neill said: 'I am delighted to have been elected as Leader of the London Assembly Conservatives. As clearly the largest party in the assembly our principle objective is to use every means at our disposal to hold the mayor rigorously to account and to vigorously oppose those policies of his which we believe will damage Londoners.

'We are open to work constructively with any other Assembly members who share that aim.'
