The planned fifth terminal at Heathrow would gravely damage the lives of millions of people and destroy large areas of countryside, warns the Council for the Protection of Rural England, reports the Evening Standard (p6).

The CPRE claims the new terminal would destroy much of the remaining green belt between London and Slough. It would seriously affect large areas of countryside in Bucks, Berks and Surrey and a large swathe of south and west London would suffer from more roads, traffic, noise and pollution, the paper reports.
