Stoke on Trent, the potteries town which has one of the most deprived city centres in the country, is set to be rejuvenated by government funding under the single regeneration budget scheme (SRB).

The Guardian's Society pages (p9) report today that the town bid successfully for an SRB grant of £23.2m, plus private sector funding of more than £90m to spend on housing, land reclamation, crime fighting, local health and restructuring of the local economy.
