Cardiff City Council hopes to introduce a new light transport system for the

city by 2005, BBC Radio Four's Today programme reported this morning.

Called Ultra, the system will consist of computer-controlled, driverless

'pods'. The council says it is part of the investment in public transport in

Cardiff.

Ultra is due to be in operation by 2005, which will be Cardiff's 100th

anniversary as a city and 50th anniversary as capital of Wales.
