New `health and safety' style regulations which protect pension scheme trustees from victimisation and unfair dismissal were announced today by pensions minister Oliver Heald.

The provisions also enshrine trustees legal rights to reasonable paid time off to carry out their duties and undergo training.

Mr Heald said:

'These safeguards will support and protect trustees in carrying out their duties in a proper manner and this in turn will further enhance the security of pension funds.'
