The Funding Agency for Schools, launched yesterday, has defended a £750,000 refurbishment of its York headquarters, the Yorkshire Post reports (3).

The FAS's chief executive Michael Coller told the paper that the revamp represented 'good value for money'.

But the Education Department has been criticised by the city's MP Hugh Bayley for spending the sum.
