Environment Secretary John Gummer today announced nine of the new senior Regional Directors who will take charge of the new Government Offices in the English Regions. The head of the new regional office for London will be announced early in the New Year.
On behalf of Michael Heseltine President of the Board of Trade, John MacGregor Transport Secretary and David Hunt Employment Secretary, Mr Gummer announced the appointment of: EASTERN: John Turner. EAST MIDLANDS: Mark Lanyon. MERSEYSIDE: John Stoker.

The new senior Regional Directors, who were selected through internal competition, will take up their new posts over the next few weeks in preparation for the launch of the combined offices in April next year.
