With only nine out of 193 senior jobs in the new Welsh local authorities filled by women, the Equal Opportunities Commission is to investigate complaints of sexual discrimination, The Western Mail reports (p1).

EOC Wales director Val Feld said: 'Some local authorities only considered people who were already in senior levels, so women were not going to get a look in, and we are concerned about some of the procedures in the selection process.'
