Residents of Newham LBC's Winsor Park Estate have been warned that their tap water supply may contain sewage after the High Court was told tests showed bacteria in their supply.

Solicitors acting for residents are claiming damages from Thames Water on behalf of residents who have been complaining for months of stomach orders. Newham LBC told the court it had taken samples and contamination was found and it was issuing a statutory notice to Thames Water warning it about providing an unwholesome supply.

Thames Water said that the water was clean and any contamination was from a refuse tip on which the site was built, the Guardian reports.
